About Me
My name is Sebastian Davis-Thakkar. I am a Swedish, British, and American triple-citizen with an international perspective, shaped by a globally mobile upbringing and driven by a long-standing curiosity about the workings of the financial markets.
I am currently completing my bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Emlyon Business School, specializing in Finance. Along the way, I've embraced every challenge. This includes developing AI-driven software and automated investment strategies, leading development initiatives at Ecoguard AB, tutoring students in accounting and preparing for the CFA Level 1 exam, while balancing my studies on a full course load.
My experiences have strengthened my analytical rigor, my ability to dissect financial statements, and what I see as the foundation of good investing, forming independent views grounded in fair value reality.
Outside of work and studies, I enjoy the outdoors, typically playing golf, fishing, or simply getting away from screens. I'm also an avid reader, with a particular interest in history, investment literature, and macroeconomics.

Front Office Representative @ Radisson Hotels
June 2022 - August 2023
- Performed nightly revenue and payment reconciliations using SAP and Excel, processing 300–500 transactions per shift
- Selected as one of five pilot hotels to implement a new property management system
- Took ownership of the six-month rollout of new system within my department, coordinated with IT, identified workflow issues, and adapted processes to the new system

Dual-Momentum SPY/GLD
The strategy switches between US stocks (SPY) and gold (GLD) on the basis of risk-adjusted momentum, favoring the asset with the higher trend strength relative to volatility. The strategy only enters positions if the chosen asset is trading above its 174-day moving average and volatility is less than 2.94x its 80-day average. The strategy also employs more stringent filters if SPY is trading below its 150-day moving average.
The strategy switches every 30 days using risk-adjusted momentum filters of 1.13% for SPY and 1.12% for GLD. The strategy favors SPY in risk-on markets and switches to GLD as a hedge. The strategy has produced a 265% gain since January 2020, with a Sharpe ratio of 1.74 and a maximum drawdown of -14.2%, beating the SPY buy-and-hold strategy by 144% with half the drawdown.
